Newsletter 14th April 2015

Janneke60
Birthday
Saturday 4th April I celebrated my 60th birthday, an age dwell on for a moment and to be thankful. During the Easter celebrations in church, I was rather surprised. I would like to thank everyone for the nice presents and it was not until today that I got the chance to hand out treats. It goes without saying that the treats were healthy, a fruit snack for everyone. It was good to see that all children were happy with it and liked it very much. Thanks again for the nice surprise on Thursday 2nd April!
The Choir
Our Oranje choir has been practicing a lot.
Reminder
Dogs are not allowed on the school yard and in the school neither. When your child has a speech on the topic of his or her pet we like to make an exception.
Buying lunch cards
Ms Hannie is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The only days it is possible to buy lunch cards (in the kitchen upstairs).
May holiday
The children have a holiday between 1st and 18th May. We will be starting school again on 19th May next.
School photographer
The envelopes with money and extra ordered pictures have been picked up on Thursday, in the afternoon. The back orders will be delivered as soon as possible. In case you paid after Thursday, it will probably take the photographer a little longer to prepare your back order. Did you not have the chance to hand in the envelope with pictures and /or money, please do so in the course of this week at the latest.
Group 8
Despite contradictive messages in the media the final tests for CITO will be as of Tuesday 21st, 22nd and 23rd April! We hope that everyone will be succesful. There is no need to be nervous but a little tension makes your work even better.
The MR is searching for a new member!!
What is MR exactly?
The MR is a body in which parents and team members of Oranjeschool like to think about issues regarding the school and its education.
Do you think it is important to have your voice heard and co-operate with the school? In that case this will be something for you!
We hope many persons will respond. For further questions you could contact the (current) MR members.
Theme evening on social media in Ons Centrum located at Tesselesestraat 59
Prinses Juliana church has a youth council that like to organise a special evening on Thursday 16th April next, particularly for parents of children and teenagers. The evening has a theme: social media and the use of it by (your) children. During the past 10 years the world change quickly since social media emerged. As a parent you are being confronted with different questions. For instance: Is this normal with my teenager/child? Is it still possible to set limits to my child? What to do when my child still receives (whats’app) messages on his or her phone when he or she is supposed to be sleeping at night?
This evening, Björn van Veelen will visit Ons Centrum to inform parents on this topic. He will have additional information on what social media mean to children and teenagers in particular or how to deal with different ages. He would also like to give some advice to parents and other guides of teenagers on how to deal with social media in a responsible way.
It will probably be an interesting evening.
Everyone who is interested is welcome to attend the evening at community centre Ons Centrum, located at Tesselsestraat 59. Should you be interested in additional information, do not hesitate contacting Arjo van der Steen, who is the church contact for youth issues. He can be contacted by phone at number 06-55553373 or through email with: arjo.pjk@gmail.com

Please contact the group teacher if you are interested in cycling with the children? Thursday 16th April the children will be doing the theoretical part of the exams. Make sure you practice well. It would be best if everyone could pass at once! VVN developed a nice app for tablet computer to make practicing for the theoretical part easier and more fun. A nice way to practice interactively with smart phone or tablet computer. We like to wish everyone lots of fun practicing. The official practical part of the exams will be on 26th May next. It goes without saying that the children will need the bicycle on that day as well. We like to ask parents to assist on that day as well, please contact the group teacher if that would be possible for you. Thank you in advance.
Watoto – Mission
Every 3 months Ms Ilse empties the saving boxes in which the groups collect money for the mission. So far, we collected a nice amount of money! After the first three months group 5 collected the biggest amount and this time it was group 3 that collected the largest amount! We like continue with the mission and hope that everyone would be willing to support us! Up until now we have collected about €300 for Watoto.
“Ukkepukkies”
Contact parent
Perhaps you already know that at the play groups we work with contact parents. Contact parents are parents of children who attend one of the playgroups and like to do something extra for the groups. They are mainly active for activities and festivities (think about the Easter breakfast or decorating the play groups) but can also give the teachers a hint when other parents have questions. These parents are contact parents during the time their child attends Ukkepukkies. When the toddlers turn 4 years old the contact parent stops and a new contact parent is being installed. The first children of Ukkepukkies that turn 4 and their parents were contact parent. Therefore, we like to introduce the new contact parents: Patty Holstein (mother of Mark), Laura Roos (mother of Jesse), Mirella Bon (mother or Elena) and Melissa Moerland (mother of Djalina). It goes without saying that we like to thank the contact parents who say goodbye: Eveline (Bram’s grandma), Natasja Romijn(mother of Ray) and Sandra Klinkhamer(mother of Janice)
