Newsletter 29th April 2015

School trip:
Thursday 30th April 2015 will be the day: the Oranjeschool school trip! This time we will visit amusement park Drievliet. As usual, we like to start at the same time as any normal school day. The busses will be expected between 8.45 and 9am. We hope that we will be able to be at Drievliet around 10am. The children will be receiving lunch, but we would like to ask you to hand them a backpack with a small snack and something to drink. Unfortunately, the weather forecast is not that favorable, since rain is being expected. A rain coat would not be anything luxurious. We expect to be back by 4.30pm and wish the children lots of fun.
The expenses: should you not yet have been able to pay, please make sure you do before we leave?
Groups 7 and 8
The groups 7 and 8 will stay at school on Thursday, but we have planned some nice things for them. They will explore the surroundings of Scheveningen. We wish them a pleasant day as well.
Buying lunch cards
Ms Hannie is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The only days it is possible to buying lunch cards (in the kitchen upstairs).
Avondvierdaagse (4-nights’walk)
The annual Avondvierdaagse has been planned in the first week of June, between 1-4 June. Our school will be joining again. Immediately after the May holiday you will receive further information and registrations will start. We will be walking 5 kilometres every night and start from swimming pool De Blinkerd.
School project: Meten & wegen
For the second time this school year, our school has joined in the project Meten & wegen. In April, during the gymnastics lessons, every child has been measured and weighed in their gymnastics clothing (separately from other children). The data that we generate in the measurements will be treated confidentially. The measurements might make clear to parents that some children could use some extra help keeping and having a healthy weight (in comparison to their length) It goes without saying that participation in the measurements is voluntary. Should you object to having your child measured and weighed, please contact the group teacher or the gymnastics teacher. We do hope that many children will be willing to participate.
FREE WORKSHOP: homework guidance for parents
How to guide your child when doing homework? A practical workshop with tips taken care of by AFTER’S COOL and initiated by CJG.
In this workshop a number of questions be answered, like:
– What skills will be handy in the introductory year at secondary education?
– How to learn for topics like French, history or Math?
– How do I teach my child to plan?
It goes without saying that there will be plenty of opportunity to ask any other questions! An interesting workshop meant for parents / care-takers of children in the ages of 11 – 13 years old.
When: Wednesday 20th May 2015 Time: Between 8.30 – 9.30 pm Where: CJG Scheveningen located at Scheveningseweg 56 a Applications: scheveningen@cjgdenhaag.nl

Practical and theoretical traffic exams for group 7
The official practical part of the exams will be on 26th May next. It goes without saying that children will need a bicycle on that day. We like to ask parents to assist on that day, please contact the group teacher if that would be possible for you. Thank you in advance. The children already participated in the theoretical exams. Congratulations to everyone who achieved their official diploma. For those who need to do the exams again, they have that possibility on Thursday 21st May.
May holiday
The children have holiday between 1st and 18th May. We will be starting school again on Tuesday 19th May next.
“Ukkepukkies”
During the past week we went to the child farm, which both we and the children enjoyed a lot. We particularly liked it that so many parents participated with their child. The children joined in a treasure hunt at the child farm and found all the animals that lived on the child farm, with which we finalized the theme called lente.
Baby news!!!
We are happy to be able to announce that Ms Stephanie is happily expecting a new-born baby by the end of October.
Monday 27th May will be Koningsdag! The play groups will all be closed. We like to wish everyone a nice day. Monday 18th May, the play groups will be closed as well, meaning that the May holiday will last a day longer, just like the Oranjeschool.
Lice check
Hooray free of lice. Unfortunately not free of nits. The regarding groups already received a letter earlier and the groups will receive extra checks. Keep on checking regularly! (and comb the hairs wet?) The next check will be in the first school week in June. Our school has, so far, been free of lice a lot. This is because the children get checked regularly by parents and…………………….the monthly checks at school. Would it be possible for you to help out other parents doing the monthly checks, please contact (members of) direction or OR.
