New school year
It is so nice that (almost) everyone started again after a nice holiday. A number of children still need to get back and we hope that those children will also return to our school safe and sound. We hope that we will all be able to enjoy a successful school year. We have a new teacher in group 5, Harm Berger, but also a new face in the school whose name is Hans Verhoek. He will help us out as school janitor and will be working every day except for Fridays. We like to welcome Hans and Harm in our school team.
In group 3a we will also have some changes. Ms Mariëlle Benjamins will take care of Elise Mallegrom’s maternity leave. Until her maternity leave, Ms Elise Mallegrom will guide children of groups 3a and 3b. Annemiek Van Kooten-Bol has gotten used to working the entire week, but as of September she will have special leave of absence on account of her study on Tuesdays. On Fridays she will take care of the lessons for playing the flute. On those days Ms Mariëlle will take over her lessons. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday Ms Annemieke, Tuesday and Friday mornings Ms Mariëlle in 3a. The children of groups 1, 2, 3 and 4 have Friday afternoons off.
Groups 5 – 8 have classes until 3pm (also on Fridays). For children of group 5 it takes some getting used to at the beginning of the school year. In group 4-5 it is nice for the children to be in a smaller group so the teacher can pay extra attention to several topics. All our teachers in the upper groups are being supported by a teacher from the lower groups Friday afternoons.
Construction work
During the holiday several construction works have been done throughout the building. On the first and second floor a number of ventilation units have been placed. The systems need to take care of cleaner air, so both the teacher and the children get to improve their focus.
Pauzefit
This year, we will start with Pauzefit. Children attending overblijf get the possibility to do sports during the hour at school, and will be guided by a qualified teacher of a foundation called Wijs. It goes without saying, that the children receive time to eat as well.
Lunch hour
Cards for overblijven can be bought with Hannie in the kitchen upstairs (1st floor). It is possible to pay for overblijf through internet banking. An entire year for overblijf for children in bovenbouw (groups 5-8) costs €180.00. An entire year for overblijf for children in onderbouw (groups 1-4) costs €140.00. Please use our school account NL65ABNA0580598128, mentioning the child’s name and group number.
School swimming will start as well.
Children of groups 5 and 6 will have swimming lessons on Monday mornings. We hope that a number of parents will be willing to guide them. For this purpose you have received an additional letter. For the swimming lessons we have arranged transport by bus, which costs €24 per child to be paid into our school account NL65ABNA0580598128, mentioning the child’s name and group number.
Homework guidance
For children of groups 7 and 8 we have arranged homework guidance, for which you can hand in an application with the group teacher. We will start on Thursday 17th September between 4 and 5pm. The final lesson will be on Thursday 9th June.
Introductory conversations
This year as well, we like to have introductory conversations for parents with the teachers. You can expect an invitation for 7th or 8th September.

The following lessons will be offered:
Infant theatre on Tuesdays between 3:15-4:15pm | groups 1,2
“Once upon a time…..”. The children experience getting acquainted with theatre rather quickly and with enthusiasm. Usually, children experience the lessons as fun and speed. Even children who are shy seem to loosen up. They practice their voice, express emotions and learn the difference between real and acting.
Design with residual items on Tuesdays between 3:15-4:15pm | groups 3,4
Why throw away every box, package and other material if you can use these to make all sorts of art works. In these lessons we like to create artworks using all sorts of residual items.
With a theme or topic children get the chance to use their imagination, which will result in true art works.
Technical science on Thursdays between 3:15-4:15pm | groups 5,6
Children are often interested in how and why. In these classes they will work on finding answers to several technical questions. Questions like how to create a power circle, how do robots work and what is a sturdy construction. Children receive answers to the questions with explanations but our vision is to make sure they mainly work with their hands.
Extreme sports Fridays between 3:15-4:00 pm | groups 7,8
Had you always wanted to shoot with bow and arrow like Robin Hood? That is possible in our lessons, with guidance of a qualified instructor. We like to teach children to use their shoulder, back and arm muscles in the right way. Doing sports like that children need to focus as well. A child that knows how to concentrate will be able to shoot nice arrows. That is not all. In this class you will also get acquainted with different other extreme sports that you otherwise do not do. Had you ever heard of Run Archery? That is a combination of running in a field (cross country) and shooting bow and arrow. Perhaps you also heard of street surfing? sports in which you learn different techniques (originally of golf surfing, skate boarding and snowboarding) children get to improve their balance but also their ability to concentrate. And what if children fall? Children do need to wear protection clothings like knee and wrist pads and a helmet in order to withstand it all. A great lesson for children who dare to take a chance?!
Sporttuinen
These lessons will start as well. Ms Marielle Sabee will inform the children additionally.
Have a nice week!
