Infants
Perhaps you have been able to see the travelling circus in the gymnastics hall today. At least, both the infants and toddlers have been working very hard to put on a good show. Performing for so many people must have been quite scary.
During the next few weeks we will work on the theme called “Eropuit”. (going out) We will be camping on a farm, discover the young animals in the meadow. This way, we will work on extending the infants’ vocabulary with help of a word web.
The infants will also be working on the new season Spring; with help of the children we like to bring the groups in spring spirit. For instance, in the group Zeehondjes, we created nice flowers using a fork and paint. The group Zeesterren created hyacints (flowers) with paper and toilet paper tubes. We are also looking for a small tent for our special home corner, where the children will be able to camp at the farm. would it be possible to borrow one?
Thank you, members of Ouderraad, our school looks amazing in a spring spirit!
Reminder: Dogs are not allowed in our school, but at the school yard either. We make an exception when your child has to do a speech on the topic of his or her pet.
Buying lunch cards
Ms Hannie is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The only days that it is possible to buy lunch cards upstairs, in the kitchen.
Easter celebrations
We like to celebrate Easter on Thursday, 2nd April both in church and at school. We like to let you know that you are welcome to join in celebrations in church. It would be best if all children come to school, as usual, since we like to walk to church together and start the celebrations at 9am. Afterwards, we like to enjoy a special Easter lunch at school. (All children spend their lunch hour at school) and at 2pm the children will be able to start with their Easter weekend, which is an extra long one, since on 7th April, the teachers will be having a study day; which means that all children have the day off. That is applicable for 18th May as well.
School photographer
Today, the children received the pictures that were taken last week. They also received a letter with additional information about what to do when you like to keep or return the pictures.
Theme evening: “Social Media” in community centre called Ons Centrum, located at Tesselsestraat 59.
The Prinses Julianakerk has a youth council that likes to organise a special evening on 16th April, for parents of children and teenagers. The theme will be: social media and the use of it by your children. In the past 10 years, the world changed quite drastically, with social media that emerged. As a parent you are being confronted with different questions. What is normal with my child or teenager? Is it still possible to limit my child? What to do when your child still receives (Whats app)messages on his or her phone when he or she is supposed to be sleeping at night.
Björn van Veelen will come to community centre Ons Centrum to inform you on this topic. He will be able to give you information on what social media mean for children and or teenagers and how to deal with different ages. This night, Björn will also give advice to parents and or people who guide children and how to deal with social media in a positive way.
It will probably be an interesting evening.
Everyone who is interested, is welcome to attend the evening at community centre Ons Centrum, located at Tesselsestraat 59. Should you be interested in additional information, do not hesitate, just contact Arjo van der Steen, who is the church contact for youth issues. He can be contacted by phone with number 06-55553373 or through email with: arjo.pjk@gmail.com
A short introduction of that night’s speaker:
“My name is Björn van Veelen. At the moment I work at a national organisation with youth. I also work as a teacher at a VMBO school. In my day-to-day life I deal with social media a lot. During this evening, I would like to find answers to the questions you might have on the topic. How does a child/ teenager deal with social media? How do parents guide them? Furthermore, I would like to point out the dangers of social media but I would also like to take a closer look at the positive sides of it. The advantages for your child and the positive effects of social media on your child. In short, an evening that a parent in these days really needs to attend!”
